Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction

Honoring, Inspiring, and Giving Educators the Attention They Deserve
College of Education

Location: Lincoln, Bellevue, Online

Degree Type: Graduate

The Masters in Education (M.Ed.) program is committed to giving special attention to the needs of K-12 educators. 91¿ì²¥ launched its Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction program more than 40 years ago, based on input from teachers and school districts. We continuously advance the program, and include the same crucial input. Students choose 91¿ì²¥â€™s program for coursework that is relevant and applicable; for faculty who believe educational professionals are lifelong learners; for a curriculum that incorporates experience and knowledge, best practice, current research, application and evaluation.

All of this takes place in a program specifically designed for busy education professionals like you:

  • Convenient class schedules including online, evening, and weekend classes during the school year and several options during the summer
  • Flexibility that allows you to choose the coursework that matters most to you and your profession
  • Support from faculty and program directors to ensure you will reach your goals
  • Opportunities to make important connections with an abundant network of education professionals

Special Programs

Non-Degree Seeking Student

The non-degree seeking category consists of students who do not wish to pursue a graduate degree at 91¿ì²¥ University, but want to take graduate courses. Although there is no limit on the amount of credit that may be earned, if a non-degree-seeking student later wishes to pursue the Master of Education degree at 91¿ì²¥ University, no more than 12 credits earned while in the non-degree status may be applied toward the graduate degree.

If a student feels there are extenuating circumstances, the student may petition the Graduate Committee of the Whole to accept more than 12 hours completed as a non-degree-seeking student.

A student who has taken coursework as a non-degree-seeking student and who later wishes to be admitted into a degree program must complete all requirements for full admission and all program requirements currently in effect, instead of those in effect when the coursework began.

Emphasis Areas

Endorsements and Specializations

91¿ì²¥â€™s College of Education is centered on the whole student, both ours and yours. At 91¿ì²¥, tomorrow’s teachers develop the skills they need not only to be exceptional educators, but also to excel in their lives and careers, wherever life takes them.

Some educators feel an additional calling to meet a special need in education, and for them 91¿ì²¥ offers several special educational endorsements and specializations. Each gives the student additional skills to rise to a special challenge in teaching.

Note: Students have the option to take our Social Emotional Learning Specialization as a non-degree seeking student.
