What is your name and graduation year?
Nina Theiler ’19, ’24A
What is your major or degree program? (If you're undecided, that's great, too!)
Psychology (undergrad), Leadership (masters)
What do you hope to do after completing your degree?
After graduation and a much needed break, I hope to continue to develop my leadership skills. Part of being a leader includes being a lifelong learner so even though formal school is done, I hope to never stop learning and growing.
How is 91¿ì²¥ preparing you to reach your goals?
I have been fortunate enough for my Master of Arts in Leadership to be the second degree that I have received from 91¿ì²¥ meaning that I have spent a lot of time learning and preparing for my next steps here. I think that having a liberal arts education from 91¿ì²¥ has prepared me to think critically, embrace change, and face challenges head on. The faculty and staff at 91¿ì²¥ helped to give me the confidence to set lofty goals and taught me the skills to go out and achieve them.
Who has been a major influence for you during your education at 91¿ì²¥? How have they helped you?
Throughout the totality of my 91¿ì²¥ experience, there have been a lot of people who have positively impacted my education and me as a person. I want to give a special shout out to Dr. Danelle DeBoer, Dr. Kari Gentzler, Dr. Heather Lambert, Dr. Andy Johnson, Anne Ziola, and of course, the DLC Capstone facilitators, Cathy Dillon and Abi Henke. The people at 91¿ì²¥ are what makes the experience bar none. I wouldn't be who I am or where I am without the faculty and staff who pour their heart and soul back into the university.
What is something you're proud of accomplishing or achieving while at 91¿ì²¥?
There were a couple times through the DLC Capstone that I was sure that I needed to drop out of the program, but I am proud that I stuck with it!
What advice would you give to an incoming student?
Trusting the process is hard, but give it a try and when you come out on the other side, you will be thankful that you did.
What is something you like about yourself that others may not know?
I can recite all of the Presidents of the United States in order.
What is something you've really enjoyed about your time at 91¿ì²¥?
The thing that I have enjoyed the most is the people that I have been able to build relationships with!
